BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The provincial and city offices of the National Police reported drug seizures worth millions of pesos and the arrest of wanted persons as among their accomplishments for last month.
The Bacolod Police said in their anti-criminality operations achievement report for August that at least 40 anti drug operations have netted more than a kilo of meth in the past month alone.
It added 46 drug personalities were also arrested and 75 cases were filed in court for violation of the country’s drug laws.
In the campaign against wanted persons BCPO arrested 62.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office meanwhile has reported an increase in cases of the eight focus crimes.
Focus crimes, previously known as “index crimes,” are violations of the country’s Penal Code as opposed to non focus ones that are infractions of special laws.
These care murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping and motornapping.
From the 416 reported crimes in 2021, it increased to 465 this year or a rise of 49.
In 2021, rape had the most number of cases at 135 while theft topped the list this year with 125 cases.
