Man shot injured again as trike turns turtle; another nabbed for alleged drug possession

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental. In two separate incidents at the strart of tiempo muerto in Sugarlandia, a man was shot while another was nabbed for possession of suspected illegal drugs.

A man from the northern city of Escalante, John Mark Quambot, 23, was shot multiple times by suspect Ace Lobaton as the former was roaming around the public plaza around 12 midnight today 17 May, 2022.

Quambot was with his friend who witnessed the shooting, and they immediately boarded a tricycle as the suspect tried to get in their way and pointed his gun towards them.

The trycicle driver tried to avoid the gun-toting suspect, causing the trike to turn up side down the barangay road.

Escalante case investigator Police Corporal Seanlin Nueva said the trike fell to around two to three meters from the highway, causing injuries to the passengers.

Nueva added that they are currently waiting for a case to be filed against the suspect as the victim is currently on stable condition in a hospital here in Bacolod.

Meanwhile, 18 year old Carl from Angelo Santiso of Pontevedra town in southern negros was nabbed after he accidentally dropped a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.

The man along with the suspected driver were reported to the police station for a traffic violation.

When the traffic investigator tried to get into the bottom of the incident, he asked Santiso for pertinent documents.

Santiso then took out his ID but upon doing so, a plastic sachet of suspected shabu fell to the ground.

Pontevedra police then checked the young man’s belt bag, where they found three more sachets of suspected shabu inside weighing 5.2 grams worth P33,800.

Two firearms were also recovered from his possession.

Santiso is now in the custodial facility of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station.
