BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Tiempo suerte or the time of fortune opens early this year in Sugarlandia as the mills open early than usual but death continues to occur across the province including a series of suicides, three in only a week.
The latest, yesterday, was a man, 68, whose body was found hanging in an abandoned house in the village of Ma-ao in the neighboring city of Bago.
The man was reported to be under treatment for ulcer which was the reason why he got frustrated.
He ahanged himself using a rope that was tied to the ceiling of the house.
That is the third reported suicide case in the province involving a man who committed suicide by hanging in only a week.
Six days ago, also in Bago City, a 78-year-old man was also found hanging dead from the ceiling of his own home in Sikatuna, a village in Isabela town.
He decided to kill himself after after he was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer.
His grandson, who discovered that he hanged himself around noontime, also saw his suicide note that nobody should be blamed for his sudden death.
A day before, on 17 August, a 45 year old man also hanged himself using a galvanized wire tied to the ceiling of his own home in Bon-bon New Site, E. Lopez village in Silay City.
His body was discovered by his child whom he told to go sleep an hour before he hanged himself.
