Kaupod Bilin sa Bungyod: Army claims Communist rebels leave behind two slain comrades after skirmishes in the hills of Guihulngan

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The death toll in the series of clashes between government troops and Communist rebels has risen to two after the body of a man believed to be a guerrilla of the New People’s Army was found in the second encounter site in the upland village of Buenavista.

The 62nd Battalion reported in a dispatch the body of Marlon Albino alias Max was found today,31 October 2022, near the second encounter site in Ilihan, Buenavista village.

The Army claimed he is a member of the Sento De Grabidad (SDG) Yunit Gerilya or the main armed force, accordimg to underground sources, of Central Negros 1, the NPA front that covers Guihulngan and other nearby towns and cities.

Albino was the second rebel found dead after Michael Asuncion’s body was found near the same site over the weekend.

The first clash was in the village of Planas where soldiers assisting residents fleeing from flood brought by a storm told them armed men were harassing them and asking for food.
