Twenty four barangays in Victorias City will have a showdown in this year’s Sabor Victorias cook fest sponsored by Victorias Milling Company (VMC), VMC Foundation and Victorias Foods Corporation as part of the annual Kalamayan Festival celebration at the Victorias City Public Plaza today.
The cook fest will showcase the creativity of local cooks in using VMC food products like the Spanish and Bangus sardines, the famous VMC ham and other meat products.
Unlike in previous cook fests, this year will not be a contest but rather, an opportunity to foster community spirit and sharing the bounty with our community protectors, Engr. Linley Retirado, President of VMC and VMC Foundation said.
“We will gather community traffic enforcers, members of the police force and fire brigade, members of the 605th Manuever Company Regional Mobile Force and our volunteer mangrove tree planters for the day to partake of the cooked food from our participating barangays,” Retirado said.
“It is part of our thrust to strengthen community bond and what better way to foster this bond than through a meal,” he added.
The participating barangays will be provided VMC food products and are expected to feature these products in their dishes without the use of MSG, artificial coloring or seasoning.
While it is not a contest, participating groups will receive cash incentives and special awards will be given out based on creativity and presentation and encouraged to post their dishes using the hashtag #SaborVictoriasVMCFoodProducts.
A panel has been selected to provide feedback to the cooks with regards to flavor, creativity, presentation and use of ingredients as well.
The event is also in partnership with Po’s Gasul and Tanduay Distillers Inc.-Mandalagan Commodities.
