Thirty soldiers, 12 Cafgu Active Auxillary (CAA), a military working dog received awards from 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Philippine Army Commander, MGen Benedict M Arevalo PA, on April 19, 2022.
Of the 30 soldiers, a Scout Platoon Leader, with Ten (10) Enlisted Personnel (EP) to include a K9 Dog handler of Military Working Dog/K9/Tracking Dog (TD) “ELLA” who were involved in a Negros Oriental clash, that left one New People’s Army (NPA) killed, received Military Merit Medal (MMM) in 11th Infantry Battalion, Brgy Salag, Siaton, Negros Oriental on April 19, 2022.
The government troops also recovered Three (3) High-Powered Firearms, Five (5) Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), various subversive documents, and 12 back packs in a successful combat operations against NPA terrorist in So. Tulong, Brgy Enrique Villanueva, Sibulan, Negros Oriental on April 14, 2022.
Meanwhile, four (4) Officers, 15 EP of 94th Infantry Battalion and 12 CAA received the same award. The awardees were involved in a Negros Occidental encounter also on April 14, 2022. They clashed with some 10 CPP-NPA in Sitio San Juan, Brgy. Caradio-an, Himamaylan City Negros Occidental.
Recovered in encounter site were two (2) magazine cal.45; One (1) hand grenade; one (1) short magazine M16; one (1) tablet; one (1) medical kit, and one (1) backpack.
In his message, MGen Arevalo commended the troops for their commitment by serving and securing the Negrenses and bringing genuine peace in the island.
Likewise, MGen Arevalo iterated to all Spearhead Troopers to always remember the Division’s mantra “Loved by the People, Feared by the Enemy”, as their inspiration in their continuous quest for long and lasting peace in the country.
“The successful military operations in Negros is part of the 3ID’s efforts in our continuous campaign against the CPP-NPA terrorist, not only in the Region but also throughout the country”, said MGen Arevalo.
