BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The first phase of the historic Bacolod City General Hospital is expected to start soon after the initial P200 million tranche for its construction was bidded out by the regional office of the Department of Public Works and Highways.

Lone District Cong. Greg Gasataya told DNX the first phase of the construction works on the 3.5 hectare donated property in Vista Alegre village will involve land development, the building of the interior road network and secondary buildings.

Gasataya said he expects construction to start between this month and July during the term of the recently elected officials in the May polls.

Gasataya’s political ally, Team Asenso standard bearer Albee Benitez will take over City Hall on 1 July.

The solon, who authored the law that provides for the hospital construction, said the first tranche of the budget was downloaded directly to the DPWH.

The second tranche of P250 million is expected to be spent for the main building construction, he said.
