Heavy rains inundate certain areas in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Certain areas of Bacolod were flooded yesterday as heavy rains hit the city early afternoon yesterday, 30 April 2023.

Images through social media show that floodwaters have covered certain areas in Bacolod during the three-hour rainfall, inundating Rizal Street, the area near SM Mall, and Bacolod City Plaza.

Physician Ana Maria Laarni Pornan, head of Bacolod Incident Management Team, said floodwaters in the city took more than an hour to subside.

Pornan said this has been a normal occurrence in the city, especially near SM City Mall, which is a sloping area, thus floodwaters easily accumulate.
