BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Provincial Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has expressed sadness over the slay of Marton Cui, a Capitol consultant and former chief of staff of then Rep. Julio Ledesma IV.
“I am deeply saddened and shocked by the murder of a dear friend,” Lacson said in a statement.
Lacson, a former mayor of San Carlos City, described Cui as a “dear friend” and a “fine gentleman and a mild mannered individual” as he added that “I cannot understand why someone would do him harm.”
Cui was a Capitol consultant on hospital operations when he was killed and was a “loyal and trusted man” of Ledesma.
The governor expressed hope that “unlike similar incidents in the past,” the killer, mastermind, and motive for the slay can be known.
