Five abductions in two months in Sugarlandia, four turn up dead so far in sugarcane fields

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The latest case of apparent salvaging in EB Magalona, 25 kilometers north of here, is also the fifth and latest case of abduction in the province that happened almost on the same day last month when still unidentified killers snatched three alleged members of a robbery group operating here.

EB Magalona police chief, Captain Eric Doronila confirmed to DNX today, 10 February 2022, that the man found dead yesterday was Julius Dumip-ig, a resident here who was earlier reported to have been snatched by still unidentified men.

Almost a month ago, on 7 January 2022, three alleged members of a notorious robbery gang were also forcibly taken from a house they were renting in Vista Alegre village here.

Their alleged leader, Arnold Cuadra, escaped the abductors but was found dead the next day by the banks of a nearby river.

Days later, alleged gang members Leonill and Jhundelle Rafols were found dead inside a sugarcane plantation in Blumentritt village in Murcia, a town less than an hour away from here.

Farther south, in Bago City, the third abducted man, Rene Boy Dasillo alias Kugan was also found dead beside the road.

On 18 January, also in Bago City, unidentified men abducted Johnson Garfil, described as a hog raiser and ex-inmate, in broad daylight in Abuanan village.

He has yet to be found.

Police in the three places say they are continuing their probes.
