BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The extended Enhanced Community Quarantine here goes on its second phase near midnight tonight, 30 April, and will last until 15 May, this year.
“It was worth it,” Mayor Evelio Leonardia said in describing the results achieved during the first phase of the ECQ that started 30 March here simultaneous to that of the provincial government.
The chief executive, who issued Executive Order 34 just this afternoon before a virtual news conference with local reporters, said the numbers are encouraging but there are conditions that require the extension.
First, Leonardia said, the two latest cases, Patients 8 and 9 were confirmed local transmissions, which requires the city “to not let its guard down.”
He also announced that four of the 28 repatriated OFW residents who arrived Tuesday tested positive in rapid testing.
They will undergo PCR confirmatory tests.
Leonardia also pointed out that there are still a lot of pending results that have yet to be released by the testing facility in Iloilo City.
Compiled figures from the local inter-agency task force show 127 tests have pending results while more than 50 samples have yet to be sent for analysis.
All the provisions of Executive Order No. 29 are in effect over the city including a 24-hour curfew, suspension of mass public transportation, the use of home quarantine passes, and a total lockdown on Sundays
