BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Bacolod Cong. Greg Gasataya has enjoined the Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez to extend help to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises ukon MSMEs during the pandemic, his official account says.
The congressman made the appeal during the hearing of Committee on Appropriations of House of Representatives for the 2021 National Budget last Wednesday.
The lawmaker revealed that MSMEs have been asking for assistance over the 30-day grace period for rental fees in areas under ECQ, MECQ kag GCQ.
The DTI secretary assured Gasataya that his office is recognizing the needs of the MSMEs and is in fact doing something about it.
The DTI Memorandum Circular has allowed not only a grace period for rentals, but for staggered payments after within six months.
Gasataya asked DTI to extend the monthly amortization to one year especially in areas under MECQ to cushion the impact on MSMEs.
