BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – City Drug Enforcement Unit operatives here arrested three men belongung to the same family in a buy bust operation early in the morning today, 28 April 2022, in a crowded community in Banago, a village that topped the list for the largest value of drugs seized in 2019.
At least P3.4 million worth of shabu weighing 500 grams was seized during the 2am operation.
CDEU chief, Lieutenant Joven Mogato said the three have long been monitored by the police before their arrest today.
Sandy Romero, aged 25, was identified by police as a High Valued Individual (HVI).
Police also nabbed his father, Sunny Boy Guino-ohan, “a street level individual (SLI), whose surname was not used by Sandy.
Rudy Talabon, 56, identified as an uncle, was also nabbed.
Mogato said Banago among the villages in the city has the biggest involvement in drugs they have recorded so far.
He added people engaged in drugs in the village are vigilant everytime they see new faces in the area as if they might get busted which is why it is more challenging on the part of the police.
Now that election nears, Mogato said there is a possibility that drugs will be in-demand reason why they strengthen their monitoring even more.
In year 2019, Banago topped the highest value of drugs seized among other villages in Bacolod having P13.1M worth of drugs confiscated.
This was followed by the villages of Singcang,Village 1, Alijis and Village 2.
The three suspects are currently in the custody of Police Station 2.
