Vargas said the new CCTVs will have anti-power surge and will have longer recording time as compared to the 39 CCTVs in different parts of the city currently in use.

The 73 additional CCTVs will be installed in major streets such as Alijis Road, Araneta Avenue, Circumferential Road, Gonzaga Street, Hilado Street, Luzuriaga Street, Mabini Street, Magsaysay Avenue, Rizal Street, among others.

Vargas said CCTVs are useful in monitoring flood, traffic accidents and crime incidents in the city.

“Most of the traffic accidents here are solved with the use of CCTV because we can determine who is at fault in an accident,” said Vargas.

Vargas also added that they proposed to buy five dump trucks, two emergency response vehicles, one customized self-loader cargo truck, one brand new amphibious excavator, and one mini backhoe.
