Bing reminds suspension for Christmas’, New Year’s eves

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Mayor Evelio Leonardia has announced the suspension of curfew hours on Christmas and New Year’s eve 24 and 31 December amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) situation in the city.

The mayor, in the Executive Order (EO) 82, said the suspension of curfew hours will give way to the observance of Filipino customs and traditions of celebrating Christmas and welcoming New Year.

Leonardia said he conducted a series of consultations with the city officials and the members of the Emergency Operations Center to determine the feasibility, practicality, and safety of the suspension of the curfew hours.

The current curfew hours implemented in the city were set at 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. until the end of the year.

The mayor noted the records from EOC showing a significant decrease of Covid-19 cases in the past several weeks that made him decide to suspend the curfew hours on the said dates.

“The data have convinced us that suspending the curfew hours on December 24 and 31 is now an option we can afford to take provided all other existing health protocols shall remain in full force and effect,” Leonardia said.
