BACOLOD CITY – The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bago cancelled all “planned big events, mass gatherings, and activities” related to the celebration of the 54th Charter Day anniversary.
The ban spans from February 11 to 19, 2020.
The Bago city council, in a resolution furnished to DNX, revealed that the cancellation was brought about by the “ongoing threat” posed by the outbreak of the 2019-novel Coronavirus as stated in a Department of Health advisory.
The DOH, in an advisory, called for the cancellation of events that would draw people and threaten public health and safety because of the virus.
The resolution quoting the advisory further urged the public to “avoid attending, or participating in, and organizing” events that could draw in people, which could potentially spread the virus.
The resolution added that the measure is intended to “ensure the safety, health, and well-being” of the constituency, as well as the tourists visiting the city during fiestas and other celebrations.
