BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The lone district solon and the vice mayor who chairs the COVID inter-agency task force are all recommending the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine here amid pending test results and an increase in confirmed cases as the third week of the ECQ started.
City Cong. Greg Gasataya told DNX he favors an extension pending the results of swab test results on 130 persons who are suspected cases.
Vice-Mayor El Cid Familiaran, for his part, said he, too, favors an extension especially after the province’s Patient 2 was confirmed to have made contact with several persons in two villages – Estefania and Mandalagan – in communities that have dense populations.
There, too, he said is the case of the city’s Patient 8 who tested positive post-death and lived in a densely-populated sub-village of Sabes in Villamonte.
Sabes, Bulak sub-village, and a street in East Homes 3, Estefania are now ultra-risk zones.
Access to and from these places are strictly regulated.
Gasataya pointed out pending results are crucial as these could tip the balance in the transmission of the virus.
Familiaran also said the IATF is straining its capabilities and resources to identify how Patient 8, a 69-year-old man, caught the virus as he had not travelled to any high-risk country abroad or to any other place domestically.
