BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A former overseas worker and about to be married next year died after the she figured in a road accident in Calatrava town that is being blamed on a spider.
Town police chief Lidawan Lumyaen told DNX Christina Paghubasan, 32, died as a result of her head slamming on the concrete pavement in Lo-ok village in Calatrava, a town 70 kilometers north of here.
Paghubasan was with her fiance, Joel Marcelo, who reportedly lost his balance after noticing a spider climb up his leg.
Lumyaen added the spider could have fallen from overhanging tree branches.
Marcelo sustained only minor injuries and was discharged from the hospital.
The two are supposed to get married in January, next year.
