Alpha, theta, beta variants now in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The three different variants of the COVID-19 virus – the alpha, beta, and theta – are now in Bacolod.

This is according to Dr. Edwin Miraflor, officer-in-charge of the Bacolod City health office, as he is quoted by the Bacolod City PIO.

Earlier, he Alpha and Beta Variants were detected through genome sequencing by the Philippine Genome Center last 30 July, 2021, a press release from the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Regional Memorial Hospital said.

These cases are found in Cadiz City for the Beta variant and La Carlota City for the Alpha variant.

These variants are known to have a high transmissibility rate than the original virus.
