BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A city councilor here believes the issue over the cancellation of TV giant ABS-CBN’s franchise is “not a just cause” to call for the ouster of President Rodrigo Duterte who took issue at the network’s failure to air his political ads during the 2016 campaign period.
Activist groups had earlier called for the ouster of the President over the issue.
To Baribar, a known human rights advocate, ABS “represents the elite which had long lorded the country,” he said.
“The fall of one oligarch is a signal that the elite is not untouchable,” he added.
