BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Local power utility Central Negros Electric Cooperative Incorporated (CENECO) will not refund its consumers as long as there is no official decision from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Acting general manager Ervin Leo Ticar said in a press release posted on their Facebook page that they have not yet received a formal decision from ERC.
They also filed a manifestation with a motion to defer the execution of the refund pending receipt of the official decision from the Commission.
They will follow the order once there is a formal decision even if their appeal is pending.
The notice given by ERC orders CENECO to refund almost P238 million worth of over/under recoveries from the years 2004 to 2017 to its 213,950 consumers.
CENECO officials held a press conference last 2 June during which announced that the refund will start during this month and will be effective for two years.
The refund was supposed to be done through deducting it from a household’s electric bill that will depend on monthly electric consumption.
