BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Lone District Cong. Greg Gasataya said the P1.2 billion allocation by the budget department for this highly-urbanized city is the biggest among areas under Region 6.
Gasataya told DNX that the budget is part of the Social Amelioration Program extended to low-income families who will get P6,000 a month for two months as provided under the Bayanihan Heal As One Act.
He added 103,000 low-income families are qualified to receive this amount.
The city government had already announced that the Department of Social Welfare and Development had already started to release the financial assistance to residents here.
Gasataya, during the special online session of Congress last 23 March, was the one who clarified about the number of beneficiaries for the program when he interpellated Cong. Luis Raymund Villafuerte, one of the bill’s sponsors.
Bacolod has more than 150,000 households with a population of about half a million.
