BACOLOD CITY – What better way to learn the best practices of the international community than to be exposed to it, and better yet, experience it first-hand?
This is the wisdom behind Carlos Hilado Memorial State College’s “TraVerSE Abroad Program” – Train, Volunteer, Study, and Exchange Program. The program aims to expose students to knowledge and concepts of different cultures, making them effective global citizens, and to also measure their performance in an international environment.
Thus last 11 January, eight students from Carlos Hilado Memorial State College flew to Japan for their six-month internship under the TraVerse program.
The BS Hospitality Management students of the college will be conducting their internship at Chuo Food Services Company, Ltd.
Rhoderick Samonte, Director of External Affairs of the college said that such opportunity for the students is something that his office has been working on since 2017.
One of the tasks of their office, he said, is to promote international education which is now on-going and pioneered by the BSHM program of the college.
Samonte believes that the BSHM program is a “fertile” ground for international education because hospitality and management industries are growing and expanding.
This step is also to ensure that the students and the faculty members of the college are “globally connected” when it comes to learning the best practices, competence, and into becoming a qualified human resource, he added.
TraVerse, thus, according to Samonte, is the students’ ticket to the world.
He encourages everyone to “take advantage” of the opportunity for it is only given once in a lifetime.
