BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The talks might be initial, the designs not yet finished but the announcement of Mayor-Elect Albee Benitez that popular members-only shopping brand S&R is coming here has created a buzz online and on the streets.
Some residents here told DNX the store opening would open a lot of choices for consumers and bring in imported quality yet affordable goods.
Jayson Baluno, an AB Interdisciplinary Studies student said the store opening is good because S&R offers imported goods, as he added it’s beneficial for resellers since things are sold in bulk.
Myles Masico, also a student, said the store opening will offer to buyers a complete array of products and services.
Mary Joyce Louise Rebadomia, meanwhile, said she is excited because there is new food, especially their pizza that tastes good, while Anjenette Esclamad saw that there is a trend from Tiktok where families buy their groceries from the store.
Architect Julius Constantine Lamazon said it is an advantage since prices are low and products come from abroad.
Grade 10 student Kenth Ricanda, however, said the store opening might affect malls as it might lessen their customers.
Achernar Marifosque, a high school said that she went to a branch in Manila and saw a lot of goods that are not pricey.
The members only-warehouse-type store that offers premium imported products and services got its name after its father and son tandem founders, Sol and Robert Price, who started the Price Club.
There are currently 17 branches of the shopping establishment in the country, and with the planned launching of a branch here, it could be its 18th.
