BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – A Sanitation Tent and Handwashing Station (STHS) was launched as a collaborative project by four different organizations in Bacolod City to help in the fight against COVID19.
The four organizations — the United Architects of the Philippines – Mt. Kanla-on Chapter, the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID) – Negros Occidental Chapter, Boys Scout of the Philippines Bacolod Council, and the Eagle Scouts Bacolod worked on the project design that is proposed to be placed at checkpoints.
In his Facebook account, interior designer and architect Dominic Diocson, the chief designer writes: “The importance of disinfecting cannot be stressed enough.”
They intend to provide a sanitization area for each barangay, as well as “keep the community informed and aware of the proper sanitization methods needed before entering their premises”.
Diocson recounted these steps: use the handwashing station and clean hands up to elbows with the provided soap before entering tent. Make sure that upon entering the tent, the individual soaks the soles of their shoes or slippers in the provided foot bath.
After using the footbath, spray bags and parcels with the provided disinfectant (water and part bleach).
Once within the tent, temperature should be taken, IDs and community pass checked, and records jotted down.
Take one’s place in the queue and observe strict social distancing. This allows the frontliners of barangays safety and efficiency.
Diocson said their group is now asking for any donation or possible contribution to help aid in the fabrication of this project.
“We encourage using the materials listed as these are every-day-used house goods and are promoting repurposing through simple innovations. Let us come in unanimity as we support and serve our fellow barangays and frontliners,” he added.
