BACOLOD CITY – Councilor Cindy T. Rojas denied rumors and “malicious” statements from some quarters that she will be running for representative of the lone district in the coming 2022 polls.

“I am contented with where I am now and Cong. Greg G. Gasataya is doing a great job; we can’t ask for anything more,” Rojas told DNX over the phone.

The second-term councilor, who was elected number one during the recent elections, flatly denied the pronouncements of lawyer Alex Espino that she is gunning for the higher position that would pit her against Gasataya, a partymate in Grupo Progreso.

Asked if she heard it over the radio, Rojas said two village kagawads or councilmen called her separately and told her that they heard Espino say that she would be running for the position.

“I have no idea why of all the GP members ako ang kursunada niya (I have no idea why of all the GP members he took a liking for me),” Rojas said, referring to Espino.

She also pointed out that she and Espino’s councilor-son, Al Victor, had already resolved their misunderstanding over an incident that involved the tearing down of her posters by campaigners of Espino.

She added that she, her husband, Roberto, Cong. Greg, and his wife, Maita, had an “intimate talk” durung which she told the solon that she is not planning to seek any higher position in the coming polls.

“The elections are still a long way from now; I think we should focus on serving our people first,” Rojas also said.

Rojas had posted on Facebook today that Espino had maliciously dragged her name.
