City to give P6M to Taal victims

BACOLOD CITY – The city government here will give P6 million cash donation for the victims of Taal eruption.

Executive Assistant Joemarie Vargas, cluster head of City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the cash donation will be taken from their office’s funds.

Vargas said this might be the biggest cash donation the city will give.

“So far, I think this is the highest amount because we have considered the unfortunate situation of the victims, plus there are really many people affected,” Vargas said.

According to the data of Department of Social Welfare and Development, there are more than 29,000 families in various evacuation centers and around 17,000 are staying with their relatives.

Meanwhile, Vargas said the people here have nothing to worry because the Taal eruption will not affect the Kanlaon Volcano in Negros.
