Bacolod City honors WHO consultant in COVID-19 fight

Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia signed an executive order recognizing the efforts of the World Health Organization consultant Dr. Ralph Nico Selibio, through simple rites at the Bacolod City Government Center.

A press release from the Bacolod City PIO said the mayor, in recognition of Selibio’s “invaluable and selfless service” to the City of Bacolod particularly to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), signed Executive Order No. 71 series of 2020.

The EO aims to give Selibio “appreciation and [show] profound gratitude”.

Selibio is a consultant on COVID-19 response of the World Health Organization (WHO). The United Nations specialized agency for international public health has assigned him to Bacolod City on 20 September 2020 to help in the city’s efforts to curb the spread of the disease.

He spent long hours working with the EOC Task Force, sharing his knowledge and expertise, unfailingly rendered thoughtful suggestions and timely procedural advice, specifically on contact tracing strategies and prevention measures.

“For two months of working with the people of Bacolod City in the formulation of effective actions and interventions to contain the spread of COVID-19, Dr. Selibio has generously shared his time, expertise, and invaluable service for the welfare of the Bacoleños,” the executive order states.

“The dedicated service of Dr. Selibio, together with the EOC Task Force, has resulted to the lowering of COVD-19 cases in Bacolod City,” it also read.

“The citizens of Bacolod City wish to express their appreciation and profound gratitude to Dr. Selibio, who diligently and unselfishly rendered his services to help the city government in the fight against COVID-19,” it added.
