BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Police here said the drive by shooting of a parked car at the SM City Bacolod lot yesterday appeared to be a warning to its owner, a businessman who has been dragged into a land dispute.
Station 1 chief, Police Major Ramel Sarona, said their initial probe showed the owner of the Ford Everest, Ceasar Nerpiol 72, appears to be the target of the warning.
Sarona said Nerpiol told them he was going back to his car from inside the mall when the gunmen shot at his car.
His car was hit twice and another parked nearby, a van owned by a town vice mayor, also had bullet holes.
Police said witnesses, however, said they only heard what sounded to be two gunshots.
