Duterte extends state of calamity until September 2021

President Rodrigo Duterte has extended the state of calamity over the country until 12 September 2021, or a period of one year from 13 September 2020.

Duterte, under Proclamation No 1021, noted that CoViD-19 cases and deaths “despite efforts and interventions to contain the same”.

The PP also cited that the extension of the state of calamity throughout the Philippines was recommended by the National Risk Reduction and Management Council.

The extension will in effect “afford the national government, as well as local government units, ample latitude to continue utilizing appropriate funds, including the Quick Response Fund, in their disaster preparedness and response efforts to contain the spread of CoViD-19, monitor and control prices of basic necessities and prime commodities, and provide basic services to affected populations”.
