Leftist orgs withdrew support vs CPP-NPA

Support for the mainstream left and its armed wing appears to be thinning as organizations affiliated with them had withdrawn their support, complete with flag-burning ceremonies.

A press release from the Philippine Army revealed that these left-leaning organizations in Central Negros had withdrawn their support and had publicly condemned the alleged atrocities and human rights violations of the New People’s Army during the Local Peace Engagement (LPE) and Condemnation Rally held at the Covered Court in Nagasi village, La Carlota City, last 26 March 2022.

Members of the six sectoral groups of Katilingban sa mga Mangunguma kag Mamumugon sa Nagasi (KAMMANA) Federation showed up to support to government’s efforts in eradicating the insurgency problem in the Negros Island.

These labor groups were then linked to the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) which is being organized by Paghidaet sa Kauswagan Development Group (PDG) – Negros as communists source of material, and other logistic support.

They were also used in strikes against government.

These organizations together with La Carlota City Municipal Task Force-ELCAC, 62nd Infantry Battalion, 32nd CMO Company, 3CMO Battalion, La Carlota City PNP Station, Brgy. Nagasi residents and Peace Advocate (former rebel) denounced the “53 years of brutal killings, extortion, recruiting of minors, sowing chaos and destroying civilian properties” by the rebels.

The activity was highlighted with a symbolic burning of the NPA flag.

Ka Roy, a Peace Advocate also give his testimonies and shared his experiences when he was still the KMP organizer and active member of the armed group.

Felix Sunalan Jr., chairman, KAMMANA Federation said, “We appreciated and are thankful for the efforts of the Army and PNP in helping us realize the selfish intentions of the KMP and their organizers. Now, I, together with the other parents will be guarding our community and our children to ensure that their future will not be destroyed like what happened to us before”.

The residents denounced their support to the Communist Part of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front by rendering the “Panumpa sa Kalinong”, offering prayer and candle lighting for the victims of NPA atrocities and human rights victims.

Moreover, white balloons were released to symbolize peace, unity, and freedom from CNT terroristic threats.

Tarps bearing the names of alleged communists were also displayed, while the personnel from 62md IB and police explained the benefits of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) that will be received by the armed group members if they will surrender to the government.
