Kammuri expected to enter PAR today

BACOOD CITY – Typhoon Kammuri is predicted to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Saturday 30 November, and Sunday 1 December morning

Kammuri will be named Tisoy as it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, and is the 20th Philippine tropical cyclone for 2019.

The typhoon is travelling with maximum sustained winds of 140 km/h and gustiness of up to 170 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #1 may be raised over the eastern portion of the Bicol Region-Eastern Visayas area on Sunday.

Kammuri brings with it moderate to heavy rains and thunderstorms starting Monday 2 December, over Bicol Region and Samar provinces.

Most of the areas in Central Luzon, Bicol Region, Southern Luzon, and Metro Manila will experience strong winds and heavy rains on 3 December, Tuesday, and 4 December, Wednesday.

Maritime travel may be cancelled over certain areas, as PAGASA describes Kammuri to likely be “intensified” thoughout the forecast period.

PAGASA also reveals that Kammuri is “less likely” to turn into a super typhoon at this point but that possibility is not ruled out.

Constant monitoring is advised among disaster risk and management council concerned.
