BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Lacson wept in front of an audience of government workers as he delivered his message during the community prayer at the Provincial Capitol yesterday.

“We are not alone in this battle. We have a God whom we might have disregarded and overlooked due to the haste of our modern life,” Lacson said, his voice cracking as he openly wept in front of his audience.

The governor also urged everyone “not to cower in fear and confusion” in the midst of a pandemic that, mere months ago, was just distant news in China.

He further assured the people that the government is doing its best to combat an “adversary that is new and invisible”, in a crisis that made all nations — powerful and otherwise — “frightened and shaken”.

Still, he reminded the people that there is no enemy that God could not defeat, encouraging people to put their faith in His omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient power.

He further encouraged the workers to call on God, citing 2 Chronicles, Chapter 7: “When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.”

  1. The Governor of Negros Occidental, Gov. Eugenio Lacson, is the first public official who stood up and rallied his constituents and made a clarion call for repentance and prayer… He said that “the enemy is new and invisible… ” You are right Sir,… “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms ” (Ephesians 6:12). You are on the right track Sir when you cited 2 Chronicles 7:14, “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land… ” Four conditions must be met before God will hear from heaven: 1. …if my people who are called by my name, 2…will humble themselves and pray, 3…and seek my face, 4…and turn from their wicked ways. If these conditions are met, then forgiveness and healing can take place. Most loving and gracious Father, I call upon Your Most Holy Name I lift up to Your throne of grace Gov. Lacson of Negros Occidental, I pray for Godly wisdom let him be surrounded by people who honor and fear Your Most Holy Name, Your favor and protection be upon him and family, his staff and all officials of the province. I prophetically cover the whole province now with the most precious blood of Your Son, Jesus Christ, that covid19 virus can no longer touch the people of Negros. Loving Father, since they’re the first province to call for repentance, let it be that they will be the first one to contain and arrest the virus. I claim the benefits of the cross… These I pray in Jesus name
    ..AMEN
