They say there are only two things nobody can escape from: taxes, and death.

Aa shown in the tragic accident that claimed the life of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant, even the greats are not spared from the inevitable.

DNX gathers these sudden, unexpected deaths of famous people caused by transport accidents (plane crash, car collisions, etc.)

Kobe Bryant

Died: 26 January, 2020

The death of the basketball legend Kobe Bryant hours ago has brought grief to everyone.

A helicopter crash near Calabasas, California killed him together with his 13-year-old daughter.

The helicopter was on its way to Mamba Sports Academy where the daughter was expected to play.

Bryant, up to this day, was considered as a premier guard in the NBA and had brought five championships for the Los Angeles Lakers.

He was 41.

Paul Walker

Died: 30 November 2013

The Fast and the Furious star died in a tragic vehicular accident together with his friend Roger Rodas in Los Angeles while involved in a fundraiser for victims of typhoon Haiyan.

According to investigations, the Porsche Carrera GT of Walker crashed at a speed of more than 100mph causing the vehicle to burst into flames.

The actor died due to the combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries.

He was 40.

Diana, Princess of Wales

Died: 31 August 1997

Known as the ‘People’ s Princess’, Diana died in a car crash in Paris together with her boyfriend, and driver.

The black Mercedes owned by the princess crashed in a concrete pillar outside a tunnel leaving everyone dead except Trevor Rees-Jones, the bodyguard of Diana’s boyfriend.

It was a mad rush in order to avoid the paparazzi that caused the driver to run the car on a high speed, but soon, unfortunately, lost his control of the vehicle.

Diana was 36.

James Dean

Died: 30 September 1955

While many young people would only remember him in the lyrics of a Taylor Swift song, James Dean is a professional car racer and an actor known for his roles in Rebel Without a Cause (1955), East of Eden (1955), and Giant (1956), among others.

The tragic accident of the actor together with his mechanic happened in Cholame, California in a collision at an intersection between his Porsche 550 Spyder and a Ford Tudor sedan.

His mechanic survived while Dean was said to be dead ‘almost immediately’.

He was 24.

John Denver

Died: 12 October 1997

Denver died when his ‘homemade airplane’ that he was flying crashed in Monterey Bay, near Pacific Grove, California.

The crash was blamed on low fuel, a hard-to-reach handle to switch gas tanks and some modifications made in the plane.

Denver is known for his famous hits ‘Leaving on a Jetplane’, ‘Annie’s Song’, ‘Take Me Home Country Roads’, among others.

He was 53.
