BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two eight-man teams swooped on Ground Zero today here to disinfect the building where COVID Patient One lived before he was brought to the hospital and was tested positive for the disease.
City disaster czar Jose Maria Vargas told DNX the two teams sprayed disinfecting chemicals on and inside the building where the patient lived in one of the units.
Benches and rooms in a school just across the building were also disinfected, Vargas added.
The disinfection is part of an aggressive contact tracing campaign ordered by Mayor Evelio Leonardia after the health department confirmed that test results for Patient One came back positive.
Patient One was described as a Filipino, male, aged 56, and came home from London, England on 29 February.
