Beirut Blast Update: “All efforts” launched to locate missing Filipinos – DFA

The Department of Foreign Affairs is “launching all efforts” to locate the Filipinos who had gone missing during the blast that rocked Beirut earlier today.

The DFA, in an advisory via the Philippine Embassy in Lebanon, also assured that they remain in contact with local authorities in launching efforts to locate and ensure the safety of the missing Filipinos.

The DFA also reassures the public and the Filipinos in Beirut that it shall provide “all the necessary assistance” to the victims of the blast.

The Department further confirmed that two Filipinos died from the explosion, while another eight suffered injuries, one of whom is in critical but stable condition. Two of those injured are current recuperating at the Embassy Chaucery after receiving hospital treatment.

“They are part of a group of 13 seafarers whose ship was docked some 400 meters away from the blast zone,” the advisory said. The other eleven, the advisory from the Philippine Embassy said, remain missing.
