BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Two alleged snatchers, described by police as notorious, were nabbed in broad daylight on a busy street here, yesterday after a brief chase that some onlookers thought would lead to a shootout.
Station 1 chief Ramel Sarona told DNX the two suspects, Regie Lamprea and Jhay Garcia, both 46, were nabbed at gunpoint along San Juan Street after a brief chase by policemen.
Sarona said their intelligence operatives were in the downtown area to verify an alleged snatching incident when one of the suspects drew a gun in them.
The gun later turned out to be a toy replica after other policemen caught the suspects who also yielded three sachets of suspected meth estimated to be worth around P7,000.
Sarina said the two hatched up a plan to become a snatching duo upon their release from prison where they met in 2018 for drug-related cases.
