BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The public relations group of wealthy businessman Alfredo Abelardo “Albee” Benitez has released a video tagging him as a “unifying factor” ahead of the opening of the official period for the filing of certificates of candidacy on 1 October for the 2022 general polls. The more than one minute video that has been posted on social media sites and was sent to DNX by his publicist, billed the former Third District solon as a man of “firsts” including being the first to have been endorsed by councilors in the province since he announced plans to run as mayor of this highly-urbanized center.

The opening frame of the video said in Hiligaynon that since he announced his plan, “many have already announced their support for him.”

It also quoted Board Member Ryan Gamboa as saying in a DNX interview that Benitez is a “unifying factor” for the city and the province.

The video also pointed out that 28 town and city mayors in the province had urged Benitez to run as mayor here and had in fact signed a manifesto declaring it.

It added Benitez is also the first prospective candidate to have been endorsed by Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice-Governor Jeffrey Ferrer and pointed out that he is the lead convenor of the Visayan Bloc, a group of members of the House of Representatives who come from the Visayas region that now has 45 members from an initial of six.
