Village 13 chief launches a first, distributes free health packs vs nCov

BACOLOD CITY – A village chief here has launched a first in the campaign to prevent the spread of the nCoronavirus.

Frank Andre Familiaran, who heads Village 13, one of the urban barangays in this city of more than half a million people, has started to distribute health packs to elderly residents of his village.

Netizens have taken note of this initiative after it was posted by several people on their social media accounts.

Familiaran told DNX the packs consist of surgical masks, Vitamin C supplements and hand soaps were given to senior citizens that health authorities say are more vulnerable to nCov infection.

He said the barangay bought the packs at P100 each using health and disaster preparedness allocations.

Familiaran pointed out barangay officials are in the frontlines of the preparations against nCov and can always take precautionary measures against the spread of the disease.

“It is not enough that we only attend meetings and conferences; we, too, can take action because we have funds for diaster preparedness,” he said.
