BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Candidates have not officially levelled accusations against each other yet and the official campaign period has yet to start for the local polls here but a potentially damaging issue of alleged ill-gotten wealth against the mayoral aspirant here, sitting three-term Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya had gone kaput already after a prominent businessman here shot it down.
“It has come to my attention that my house and lot located near Kingswood Drive, Town and Country, Talisay City, is being made an issue against Congressman Greg Gasataya,” prominent businessman Ian Lo said in a public notice furnished DNX today along with a graphic posted by what has been described as a troll account believed to be run by opponents of Gasataya who has been hounded by allegations of ill-gotten wealth, from alkeged mansions to cars in his nine years of being a solon throughout which he had won three elections for three terms of three years each.
The graphic had texts of “Greg Gasataya Mansion” on the upper part with the text of “Katas Sang Baha kag BANOCEH (Product of Flood and BANOCEH)” a reference to the billion peso flood control and Bacolod Negros Occidental Economic Highway projects of Gasataya.
The card also had a text of P50 million that was the alleged value of the property and mentioned the street and subdivision names – Kingswood Drive at Town and Country in Talisay, the immediate neighboring city here.
Lo, however, whose firm owns a chain of drug stores, said he bought the property on 3 January 2022 for only P7 million and is covered by Title Nos. 091-2022000993; 091-2022000994 and 091-2022000995 and Tax Declaration Nos. 018-8484, 018-8483
018-25242 and 018-9005.
He added “this information can easily be verified with the Registry of Deeds, the Assessor’s Office, the BIR and also the Homeowners’ Association of Town and Country.”
He also added: “I and Grace Pharmacy have been active in civic and charitable works and we have partnered in the past with numerous elected officials and their offices including the Office of Congressman Gasataya.”
