BACOLOD CITY – A traffic rerouting will be implemented for the celebration of the 15th Bacolaodiat festival from 31 January to 2 February.
A total truck ban will also be implemented in Circumferential Road, Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) Chief Lt. Col. Luisito Acebuche said.
He further said the downtown area, Circumferential Road and Lacson Street will be closed by 4 p.m. on 31 January, the first day of the festival.
A total of 180 enforcers will be deployed throughout the celebration.
Meanwhile, the Bacolaodiat organizing committee is expecting a flock of people to join their lined up activities for this year’s celebration.
Odette Ong-Gomez, chairperson of the Bacolaodiat Festival 2020 said a motorcade will be held on the first day of the celebration on 31January. This will be participated by city officials, guests, private business entities and the Chinese schools in the city.
A fireworks display will also be witnessed on 31 January 8:30 p.m. in Lacson Street, 1 February 10:30 p.m. in Lacson Street and the highlights on 2 February 9:30 p.m. at the Bacolod City Government Center.
Businessman Andrew Tan will be conferred as an adopted son and honorary mayor of Bacolod on 1 February.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said Tan is the unanimous choice of the Bacolod-Chinese community to be the adopted son of the city for this year.
In the past, business tycoons Henry Sy, Lucio Tan, John Gokongwei, Jr. and Eduardo Cojuangco Jr were also conferred as the adopted sons of Bacolod.
