BACOLOD CITY – Not all villages in the city can afford to have closed circuit television (CCTV) installed in their areas.

Liga ng mga Barangay President Lady Gles Gonzales-Pallen said the villages in the city especially the numbered barangays have no budget and capacity to buy CCTVs as required by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The DILG will soon issue a memorandum circular requiring all villages in the country to install CCTV cameras in their areas to help in crime prevention and to improve safety and security in the community.

The barangay officials were urged to implement real-time monitoring of the CCTVs for 24 hours.

Gonzales-Pallen said only barangay Tangub has the command center that closely monitors CCTV cameras in their area.

She said the city will try to help villages that cannot afford to have their own CCTVs installed in strategic areas, while big barangays are encouraged to purchase their own in compliance with the DILG memorandum.
