Army in Negros honors fallen heroes


CAMP GERONA, Murcia, Negros Occidental – The 303rd Infantry Brigade, in a statement furnished to local media, “honors the bravery of the troops of 94th Infantry Battalion in the recent clash” against the New People’s Army guerrillas in the village of Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental yesterday, 19 April, 2020.

The clash killed 2Lt Ralf Amante Abibico, platoon leader of Charlie Company of the 94th Infantry Battalion and two of his troops, Cpl. Joel Nobleza and Pfc. Carl Venice Bustamante.

The government soldiers clashed with the rebels who were reportedly extorting money in the community.

Four other soldiers were wounded in the battle and these were Cpl. John Cris Laus, PFC John Paul M Geonzon, Cpl. Lismer Jade Tumayao and PFC Alexis Mepranum. All are now in stable condition, the press release said.

303rd Infantry Brigade Commander Col. Inocencio Pasaporte lauded the “heroism, bravery and selfless dedication of the operating troops to secure and protect the community”.

He also expressed his condolences and assured all necessary assistance and benefits will be extended to the bereaved families.

“Their heroism will never be forgotten by the people of Negros. It also motivates us to further continue our mandate to protect our fellow Negrense against this terrorists group and achieve genuine peace in the island,” Pasaporte added.
