BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The row over the recent polls of the Negros Press Club has deepened after a losing candidate for the presidency, Rey Siason, filed a formal complaint with the club seeking a probe into vote-buying allegations by his rivals and the nullification of the election results.

Siason blasted the alleged actions of the New Normal slate as having “corrupted” the members and having “dirtied” the Club. (READ also: Vote-buying allegations mar local press club polls, ex prexy calls for probe)

His two-page letter, addressed to outgoing president Glazyl Masculino with an attention line to “past presidents, officers and members” specifically referred to the “vote buying by the camp of Yves Montecillo and El John Castaño in the amount of One Thousand Pesos (P1,000) to vote straight for the New Normal slate” during the Saturday polls.

Broadcaster Yves Montecillo, incoming president of the Negros Press Club, is willing to answer any complaints lodged against him before a “proper forum” after his defeated rival, fellow broadcaster Rey Siason filed a complaint before the local club seeking the nullification of the results of the weekend polls as he condemned what he alleged as the “act of prostitution” committed by the “New Normal” slate.

Montecillo, a relative newcomer to the local media here, led a slate of NPC members who called themselves “Team New Normal” who are mostly younger members of the NPC reputed by its members as the oldest press organization in the country.
