Fifty-five families in Hinobaan are now affected by heavy rains and floods brought by Typhoon Quinta, a Provincial Disaster Management Program Division led by Zeaphard Gerhart V. Caelian said.
Areas in Talisay and La Castellana are also affected by floodings.
The three areas are I Poblacion with 15 families, Bulawangan with five families, and Talaycagay, with 30 families. Affected families were evacuated to their respective covered courts (in the case of 1 Poblacion, and, Talaycagay, or the village hall (Bulawangan).
Flooding incidents had also been recorded in the low-lying areas in the city of Talisay as of 24 October 2020, 12 am, although the floodwaters have since subsided by the afternoon of the same day.
In Hinobaan, meanwhile, as of 1 p.m. yesterday, heavy rains and strong winds were experience in Hinobaan, resulting in floodings in certain villages specifically, San Rafael, Talacagay, Bulwangan, and I Poblacion.
Meanwhile, in La Castellana, low-lying areas near water bodies due to floodings were experienced. Quinta also caused road obstructions caused by eroded materials from steppe slopes (or grasslands), making it difficult for travelers and other people. La Castellana also reported damage to crops due to water rising in farmlands.
No suspension of classes as of press time.
Quinta, as of the last report, is forecast to emerge over the West Philippine Sea within the next hour. It will then turn more west-northwestward while maintaining speed towards the western limit of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Quinta is forecast to exit the PAR tomorrow morning.
