Low-risk areas now under Modified GCQ

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Not anymore a lifting of the Community Quarantine but a modified general community quarantine.

This was the “amendment” that interior and local government Secretary Eduardo Año clarified during a press conference earlier regarding the reclassification of national Inter-Agency Task Force on the eight regions, 37 provinces, and 11 cities, as well as the Bangsamoro Region of Muslim Mindanao that had been classified as “low-risk” areas and now under modified GCQ.

Both Negros Occidental and Bacolod would be affected by the amendment.

Año said that a lot of local chief executives and provincial officials had made a petition saying that their respective government units are not yet ready to lift the community quarantine, as this would mean loosening restrictions on movement while a pandemic is ongoing.

These amendments would be strengthened later today.

Local government units and executives will still be working within guidelines on the Modified GCQ, so that they would still be equipped to deal with the COVID-19.
