BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – “Sorry, tatay could not be with you today to celebrate your special day”.

Bacolod Congressman Greg Gasataya had to miss his son’s birthday celebration as he has to attend the special session of the House of Representatives to pass the 2021 budget.

He is Vice Chairperson of the House Committee on Appropriations which had been working on the preparation of the budget centered on addressing the CoVid-19 pandemic.

Gasataya had been in a series of online meetings with various agencies before the session, consulting on commitments for, among others, subsidies for small businesses affected by the pandemic, or seeking an extension for dues incurred while sales are slow.

“[D]uty calls and it is one of utmost importance for the country,” the congressman said in his message to his son on his Facebook page, “I will make it up to you when I get home.”

He adds that he “keep[s] thanking the Lord every single day for bringing you in my life and how lucky I am to have you as my son.”

“Happy 15th Birthday, RD! I pray that the Lord will shower you with many blessings and keep you safe as you grow to become a blessing to others. Tatay loves you always!” the congressman adds.
