BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — The mass testing will be a go, but not the requested lockdown in four LGUs, according to Executive Order of Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Lacson.
Instead, lockdowns will be “localized and targeted”, according to the E.O. which will take effect 30 until 31 of August 2020.
Charina Magallanes-Tan, spokesperson of Provincial Incident Management Team for COVID-19 confirmed to DNX that the NIATF has yet to give its nod for the request on lockdown.
The E.O. adds that the lockdown will not cover national roads while LGUs will have the discretion to declare localized and targeted lockdowns within their areas.
It can be recalled that the Regional IATF and the Regional Task Force on CoViD-19 approved what it called as the four-day no movement dates or the Timeout Weekend.
The city mayor had earlier signed an E.O. on the no movement dates, covering Friday to Monday or 28 to 31 August 2020.
Silay Mayor Mark Golez, in an FB post, declared that his city — which was identified as one of the targets for mass testing — will not go on lockdown.
