Unique V-Day, Women’s Day offerings at the NIR Shooting Range in the City of Smiles

BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – Chocolates, wine, roses?

Or even diamonds for Valentine’s Day?

The romantic in you might find it classy and timeless, bringing back images of Rick telling Ilsa “here’s looking at you, kid, ” when you and your date share a bottle of bubbly or Cabernet or/and that Aztec love potion.

Or when he kneels in front of you and crack open that little black box with a finely-cut 50 carat.

Or you might go for a more bold, risqué, even risky night of love (which might or might not include leather and handcuffs or auto asphyxiation, i.e. choking that is vaunted to give mind-blowing orgasms).

With V Day less than a month away and Women’s Day weeks after that, a former Army captain who now runs a personal defense outfit has prepared a series of courses guaranteed to offer a unique experience on what could be an ordinary celebration on these special dates.

All these at the reinvigorated and repackaged Numeral Impact Recoil (NIR) Shooting Range, one of the oldest shooting ranges in the country.

“TactiCouple Training,” is billed by former soldier Jose Carlos Coruña as “love is in the range,” an opportunity to “shoot together with your forever.”

The poster bears the likeness of a man in a suit and a woman in a dress standing beside each other with pistols drawn pointed in opposite directions.

Carlos admits it was inspired by the poster of the movie Mr. And Mrs. Smith that top billed movie stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who later became a real-life couple.

“I just made the term up, inspired by that movie title, and fused ‘tactical’ and ‘couple’ to come up with it,” he tells DNX.

With personal defense and gun experts popping up like mushrooms on the Internet, Carlos’ outfit – Downrange Daddy – was opened in the midst of the health quarantines to give his children and those of his friends the chance to have physical activity without breaking health protocols (READ: Downright different: Downrange Daddy’s cool school).

One can say that Carlos is no ordinary gun nut who started plinking cans and bottles.

He is a retired soldier who used to head the country’s Army Shooting School, a grunt who has seen combat, faced enemy guns and had bullets coming his way.

He knows what “tactical” means for once his life depended on it.

“We all have to start somewhere and learning with your significant other is a nice and fun way to learn how to shoot scientifically,” he adds.
