BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines – The increasing number of COVID-19 cases indicates that there is local transmission in certain areas in Iloilo province and Bacolod, an advisory from the Department of Health Western Visayas said.
Local transmission means that the source of infection is within the location.
According to the advisory, the areas with local transmission are advised to strengthen community quarantine.
The advisory cited Interim Guidelines on Community Quarantine Under Code Level 2 which states restricts non-essential entry of the following under general community quarantine: 60 years old and above, immuno-compromised, with pre-existing medical conditions, and pregnant women.
The DOH advisory also reinforced guidelines under strict enhanced community quarantine including strict exit and entry of the general public, except when procuring supplies.
